Homepreserver recently completed a smart, space-efficient garage conversion in Clacton-on-Sea, turning an unused garage into a fully functional bedroom with en-suite and utility area.
Project Brief
The homeowner wanted to:
- Create a new bedroom for guests or family use
- Add a modern en-suite bathroom
- Incorporate a small but practical utility area
- Make use of an underused garage
Our Approach
We managed the entire project from start to finish:
- Arranged architectural drawings and secured building regulations approval
- Designed a layout that fit a bedroom, en-suite, and utility into a tight footprint
- Partnered with LAF Decorating for the final interior finish
- Carried out all plumbing, electrics, flooring, and fitting
Design and Execution
Space was limited, so we had to be clever with layout and build:
- The en-suite includes a compact vanity, WC, and full shower cubicle with wall-mounted fittings
- Bedroom has a clean, neutral look with new carpet and panel detailing
- A small hallway links the new spaces while keeping them separate and private
- The utility area fits seamlessly behind cabinetry with worktop space and washing machine tucked in
Outcome
The result is a high-spec finish that adds practical value and comfort:
- One new bedroom with en-suite
- Dedicated utility space
- Fully compliant with UK building regulations
- Cost-effective solution without needing a full extension
